I'm going to just be doing these updates once a week now, things aren't changing enough to have much to talk about on a daily or every other day basis. Unless something happens, I'll be doing weekly updates.
Mom is improving a lot with how much she can do. She's described her morning for me on Friday: she got up on her own, put her shoes on, unhooked her bag (nephrostomy bag), dug out her wheelchair and wheeled it in front of her into the bathroom, went to the bathroom, washed up, brushed her teeth, moved her chair out from in front of her dresser, picked out her clothes, and got dressed. All on her own. She is also able to push herself up in her bed now, to sit up. When she's using her walker, she isn't really leaning much on it anymore and stairs aren't much of a problem for her.
For her feet, the pressure pain is easing up a bit and the nerve pain is definitely improving with the pain pill she's taking for that. She's able to go without some of her pain pill doses (percocet) now! They cut all the "black stuff" off of her fingers, so they're all bandaged up again, but before that she had been done with bandages on her hands. Her feet are healing up, but the black on her toes is still there. She has an appointment with a foot doctor to talk about them this week. Her toes are all individually bandaged now, she thinks they look funny. The numbness in her face isn't really changing much, but she's getting used to it and doesn't really notice it now. It's been like that since she woke up from the sedation.
She had a low grade fever since Thursday, they've determined she has a bladder infection that wasn't affected by the antibiotic she was taking. They gave her a new antibiotic that will treat it. Also, her hemoglobin numbers are coming up now.
They're doing labs on her urine regularly to determine if she needs dialysis. She hasn't gone at all since they started skipping it, which is great news!
The best news of all, she's supposed to come home tomorrow!! Dad is all ready for her to arrive; the carpets are all cleaned, the hospital bed has arrived, and the bathroom is all ready for her. Yay!
Here are some pictures of her feet from Friday... Scroll to see them.
