Day 7: The amazing doctors who have been caring for our mother

Here are a few of the amazing doctors who have been caring for our mother. (you can click on their names to pull up their bio/page for the hospital)

Dr. Nwakanma (also known as Dr. Chuck) is such a great doctor. He explains everything to us and is very happy to answer all of our stupid questions. Yes, kids... there are definitely stupid questions, and we have them! He's probably been here the most and he's probably one of our favorites to deal with.

Dr. Kirk was here when mom was checked in and then again on "Terrible Thursday". She was extremely frustrated that she wasn't able to "fix" mom, when she should have been able to. Such a wonderful empathetic doctor to deal with and so good at what she does.

Dr. Otten is one of the cardiologists who have been seeing mom. He is super nice and does a fabulous job of explaining everything to us.

Dr. Eby is the nephrologist that has been in here the most, working with mom and her kidney issues. He's a funny guy, really dry sense of humor, but so informative.

There are SO many nurses we've met who have been caring for mom... they have all been absolutely amazing. Even when they aren't in mom's room and we run into them in the hallway, they'll stop and ask how she's doing or swing by to check in on her. We can't say enough good things about this place...

Speaking of nurses and being nice... her day nurse today braided mom's hair after her bath. She was worried that her hair would get matted up and wanted it to feel better for her.

Oh, and they pulled an additional 10 pounds or so of fluid off of her during her dialysis today! Yay! And we learned how to work with her hand mobility from therapy today, so we can help get her hands moving.

She's still intubated and on a lot of pain meds (i.e. asleep) so that she can be comfortable with all the open wounds.
